AARP the Magazine placed Greater Mankato on its 2007 "Cities to Watch" list for being ahead of the curve in providing services for empty nesters, active retirees and everyone in between. 

America's Promise named Mankato one of the Top 100 communities in the nation for young people in 2005, 2007 and 2008. read more

Policom ranked Greater Mankato in the Top 10% in the nation and number one in Minnesota for Micropolitan Economic Strength in 2008.  read more

Demographics Daily named Mankato and North Mankato Dreamtowns, because of their vitality supply of good jobs, freedom from stress, connection to cultural mainstream, support for schools, access to health care, low cost of living and small-town character. 

BizDemographics awarded Mankato an "A" for its excellent economic health demonstrated in 18 key ares, including population growth, per capita income, job grown and local education levels. 

Site Selection Magazine named Greater Mankato one of the Top 25 small cities nationwide for new and expanded corporate facility projects in 2002, 2003 and 2004. In 2006 the magazine ranked Greater Mankato Number 10 in the nation in the Top Micropolitans category for new and expanded corporate facilities.

Expansion Management's Education Quotient gave Mankato Area Public Schools a "Gold Medal" ranking for districts in the Top 17% nationally in 2006 and 2007.
