Greater Mankato has tax-free opportunities for your business. Job Opportunity Building Zones (JOBZ) is a new and exciting initiative
to help new and expanding companies lower their costs and facilitate growth. JOBZ tax incentives will reduce your company expenses
and increase your competitiveness.
Eligible businesses will operate in an environment nearly free of state and local taxes:
NO corporate franchise tax
NO income tax for operators or investors
NO sales and use tax
NO property tax on commercial and industrial improvements
NO wind energy production tax
Who is eligible?
To qualify for the tax exemptions, a business must start up in the zone, relocate from
outside the zone, or expand. Companies relocating from another Minnesota site
qualify by increasing employment by 20 percent within the first year or making a
capital investment of at least ten percent of gross revenues. Businesses must also meet
certain local guidelines to qualify.
Exemptions are available for up to 12 years, beginning in January, 2004.
