Mankato is 1,034,333 which includes 12 counties
in Minnesota (Source: US Census Bureau, Census 2000).
Both Mankato and North Mankato were designated "dreamtowns"
by Demographics Daily . Cities in the study had
a population of 10,000 to 50,000 and were ranked according
to quality of life indicators. They included vitality,
supply of good jobs, freedom from stress, connection
to cultural mainstream, support for schools, access
to health care, low cost of living and small-town character.
In terms of business climate, BizDemographics
awarded Mankato an "A," a sign of excellent
economic health. Mankato ranked 25th out of 39 small
cities to receive an "A". The Study looked
at 18 economic and demographic categories, including
population growth, per capita income, job growth and
local educational levels.
