Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce Mission Statement:
The Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce works to enhance the economic growth and vitality of the region for our membership and business community.

Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce Vision Statement:

The Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce will be recognized as the regional leader for creating economic growth opportunities leading to a future of prosperity.

Greater Mankato Convention & Visitors Bureau Mission Statement:

The Greater Mankato Convention & Visitors Bureau markets the region and produces an economic impact from tourism through overnight visitors.

The 2006-07 Work Plan is comprised of five divisions aimed at achieving the missions of the Chamber of Commerce and Convention & Visitors Bureau.  The divisions include:

  • Membership Development
  • Public Policy Development
  • Community Development
  • Convention & Visitors Bureau
  • Administration/Operations

 

membership development division work plan:

membership retention and recruitment
Continue membership growth and development in order to execute a financial base of support for the Chamber resulting from membership investment revenue.  Continue to execute a comprehensive, long-term member retention program designed to support and retain the member base.

membership services
Develop and offer member-only services that provide value-added benefits to their Chamber of Commerce membership.

membership events
Develop, implement and evaluate programs that provide members with opportunities to network and promote their business, while creating non-dues revenue for the Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce. 

membership communications/marketing
Communicate, market and promote to Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce members and potential members the positive impacts the organization makes on our business community.

membership recognition
Continue a comprehensive membership recognition program that recognizes the investments made by long-term members, active volunteers and the accomplishments of member businesses.

public policy development division work plan:

public policy division work group
Direct public policy programming toward business advocacy efforts and partner on strategic initiatives that improve business vitality.

local advocacy agenda
Develop an advocacy agenda at the local level on issues that have the greatest impact on Greater Mankato businesses.

state advocacy agenda
Develop an advocacy agenda at the state level on issues that have the greatest impact on Greater Mankato businesses.

federal advocacy agenda
Develop an advocacy agenda at the federal level on issues that have the greatest impact on Greater Mankato businesses.

leadership institute of greater mankato
Conduct annual Leadership Institute of Greater Mankato program. 

professional development series
Implement 2006-07 Professional Development Series with three high-profile speakers.

workforce development initiative
Develop and implement an initiative to meet current and future business employment needs through various activities and programs.

grow minnesota! initiative
Retain and grow businesses that are currently located in Greater Mankato.

greater mankato attraction development initiative
Proceed with the development of regional recreation/sports/education/cultural center(s) that will enhance the quality of life in Greater Mankato and drive economic opportunity.

greater mankato housing initiative
Complete the purchase-rehabilitation housing strategy.

greater mankato community visioning
Implement the Envision 2020 initiatives to improve Greater Mankato’s positions as a leading regional center in Minnesota.

community marketing initiative
Continue implementation of the comprehensive community marketing plan that identifies the region’s marketable assets and competitive advantages.

fourth of july fireworks
Produce the Greater Mankato Fourth of July Fireworks celebration.

greater mankato emerging issues
Research emerging issues and/or ideas that could grow the Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce or provide an economic stimulus.


convention & visitors bureau division work plan:

financial management
Continue and develop partnerships with the City of Mankato, City of North Mankato and regional businesses to fund the marketing and sales efforts of the Greater Mankato Convention & Visitors Bureau.

convention/meeting marketing and sales
Retain and increase conventions, conferences and meetings to Greater Mankato through an aggressive marketing and sales campaign.

sports/tournament marketing and sales
Retain and increase sports tournaments to Greater Mankato through an aggressive marketing and sales campaign.

tourism communication, marketing and sales
Retain and increase leisure travel to Greater Mankato through an aggressive communications, marketing and sales campaign, while promoting the effectiveness of the Convention & Visitors Bureau.



administration work plan:

operations/financial management
Provide for the organizational needs of the Greater Mankato Chamber of Commerce, assure the broad base financial support necessary to carry out the programs and services offered to our membership, and ensure long-term stability of the organization.


staff development
Develop and implement a staff development and training program that includes professional development opportunities.

Conduct regular assessments to ensure a high level of satisfaction among Greater Mankato Chamber/Convention and Visitors Bureau staff members and to provide staff with constructive feedback regarding their job performances.

Devise and implement an action plan for ensuring a good work atmosphere and a strong team-oriented environment.
